snow Nanosystems Press Info - Dec 21, 2006
Using
chemistry to provide tailor-made snow, in any weather. Changing the nature of winter
snow Nanosystems announced today that they got approval from the FDA to sell "SuperSno". Using a new technology called "nanotechnology" they have found a way to enable ski areas to make snow at any temperature.
Rocky Cross, one of the first ski area snowmakers to use the product had this to say, "It really works! Plus, it's so cheap. We're going to use it every day."
How It's Done
snow Nanosystems new Nanotechnology can be applied in the production, processing,
and safety of snowmaking. A nanocomposite coating process improves snowmaking
by placing anti-microbial agents directly on the surface of the water droplets.
- Using biomimetic principles, Nanoparticles increase snowmaking temperatures to
100 degrees.
- They also improve the heat-resistance properties and lower the
evaporation rate.
- They sense the biochemical changes in the atmosphere and
adapt to them, thereby making the snow melt-proof.
- sNanoparticles reproduce rapidly and in great
number which makes them inexpensive to produce and use.
- Their horizontal gene
transfer, coupled with a high mutation rate and many other means of genetic
variation, allows sNanoparticles to swiftly evolve (via natural selection) to
survive in new environments and respond to environmental stresses.
- This rapid
evolution has led to the recent development of 'SuperSno' -snow that is
resistant to any weather or temperature conditions.
sNanotechnology
"SuperSno": snow from silicon technology and naturally occurring biological
molecular machines. Environmentally
friendly!
